A hearing instrument consists of several parts, most of which should be cleaned and maintained regularly. For instructions on how to clean a hearing instrument, please select your hearing instrument style:
Advice before cleaning
- Do your best to keep your hearing aids clean at all times. Make sure your hands are clean and dry before handling your instrument. Heat, moisture and foreign substances can result in poor performance.
- Use a cleaning brush or soft cloth to clean debris from around the switches, microphone and battery compartment; inspect the receiver, earbud or eartip and wax protection system carefully.
- Never use water, solvents, cleaning fluids or oil to clean your hearing aid.
- Dr. Kirsch can provide further information about additional maintenance procedures for your hearing aids, if needed.
